I wanted to get this completed and posted before the new Cap movie was released. Captain America Winter Soldier is probably my second favorite of the Marvel series movies only to bested by The Avengers. The thing I like about the Dragon Hero models is that they are all in scale. I’ve got The Hulk and Thor and Cap is a nice addition to the scale collection.

Normally I’d default to the original suit. It’s a constant debate with the guys whether Hollywood changes the suit design because they can or because the design is out of date. As much as I like the original Captain America Suit, the stealth suit A. Is a cold new design and 2. Will be much easier to paint. Don’t get me wrong. I have no fear of tackling a complex paint scheme. But the time and energy it takes to complete a kit like that can eat into my real world time. Never the less, the Stealth suit is well design and fits in our modern age.

This kit also gives you the option of building the kit with or without the helmet. I’m almost convinced that 1:9 scale is probably the perfect sized for figures. You get a good amount of detail, large parts like the legs and torso can be airbrushed then detailed by paint brush.

The part I was most eager to paint of this entire kit was, of course the shield. I thought about how I was going to get it done for at least a week before even priming it. I wanted to make sure the shield was going to do Cap justice. Really do I say I nailed it. But, “I nailed it.”  As usual, I tend to have trouble getting the pupils right. But in the end, I think it came out pretty well.

I still would like to build the Captain America in the original suit at some point. I also look forward to some of the other kits that may be on the horizon. Keep up the good work Dragon.
