On the left is my incomplete cosplay bounty hunter blaster. In the center and to the right, parts of my E-11 Stormtrooper blaster.

I’ve noticed a pattern in my model building process. Every time I get to the 99% completion point, I stop working on the model. It has happened time and time again. Even this blog has suffered the curse as I have one article mostly done and yet it sits unfinished. Here is a list of what’s in the hopper.

  • Stormtrooper E-11 Blaster
  • Star Wars Cosplay Bounty Hunter Pistol
  • Cosplay Bounty Hunter Pistol
  • Star Wars Dark Disciples Book review

The best I’ve been able to come up with is that the hard part is done.  Especially when your talking about a scratchbuild. The hunt to find or fabricate the necessary parts to complete any given project is fun. There comes a point when you’ve got it all figured out. From that point forward, it’s all downhill. This is when I always start the next model to fill in the gaps of the models begin finished. Maybe, that should be the new process. No starting a new project until one is completed. Who are we kidding? That’s never gonna happen. You know what they say, “Recognizing you have a problem is the first step.” Okay, what’s the second? Changing the behavior. Keeping in mind we all have things that distract us. My challenge is to just focus and finish. Even this article is preventing me from completing these same project. However, if someone can read this quick article, recognize the trait in themselves and get back on the bench. Then the time it took to do this was worth it. So without further ado.
